Get ready for an event like no other!
L’Electrique Dollhouse Circus will take place this Saturday, February 11th 2017, from 8pm to 2am, at the McNichols Civic Center Building. This event, presented by the MOTH Contemporary Circus Center & Mahesh, is an interactive experience blurring the lines of dance music, theater, circus, art, and libation. Performances will be on stage, above your heads, and in the audience.
L’Electrique Dollhouse Circus will feature live music, DJ’s, circus, dance, theater, ambient performances, visual arts, installations, face & body paint, libations and cocktails.

We were so intrigued by this event, that we sat down for a chat with Deena Marcum Selko, Owner Artistic Director of MOTH Contemporary Circus, to learn more.
Q: Where did the idea for the L’Electrique Dollhouse Circus come from?
A: “ We have always loved the idea of mixing contemporary circus, with house dance music. The concept creates a really fun and sexy vibe that encourages people to dress up, let loose, and be free. We wanted to create an immersive show where the performers and the audience mix together.”
Q: Is this the first event of its kind?
A: “ Not sure I could say that, but it is for sure a first in Denver! We created the general concept a few years back and those events went really well, but working together with Mahesh Presents by mixing in electronic dance music, really takes the event to another level.”
Q: How did the idea for MOTH Circus come about?
A: “ The desire to create works of art that are poetic, use through line characters, that are physically challenging, tell a definite story, and infuse live music. ”

Q: Do you offer classes for the public?
A: “ Yes, we have a school in Denver, you can find out more information at www.contemporarycircuscenter.com. We offer professional training programs, and recreations class suitable for all levels from beginners to seasoned professionals. We foster a supportive environment that is based on our 4 pillar philosophy of LEARN, TRAIN, CREATE, PERFORM. ”
Q: Are there any future events you are currently working on?
A: “ Yes, we have several other in the works. The closest is the MOTH Professional Training Student Show. Last year’s show sold out, and mixes world class level circus artists with youth’s aspiring to be professionals. ”
