I’m always on the look out for some great Denver secrets. Naturally, a lot of them revolve around time sensitive events ( concerts, shows, festivals etc.), but I recently realized that there are so many great businesses in and around Denver that still are unknown to many people I speak with.
One of these businesses is Plum Consignment… ( Ladies you are going to thank me for this one!)
Plum Consignment is a locally owned and operated apparel and accessories boutique located in the Stapleton neighborhood.
The idea and execution of this store is really interesting: you give them good quality designer clothing, shoes and accessories that you no longer want. They either decide to buy it outright from you for store credit, sell it on consignment or donate it (more on the donation part later on). If they decide to sell your item and it sells within 60 days, you can elect to receive 40% of the selling price via check or store credit. If you choose to use your money towards store credit you will also receive a 10% bonus toward your purchase when you shop (making it a 50% split).
The best part, in my opinion, is not the actual consignment. What should really get you excited is the merchandise!
They have items from brands such as 7 For All Mankind, Hudson, Anthropologie, Boden, Citizens, True Religion, Free People, J Brand, Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors, Nanette Lepore, Sam Edelman, Splendid, Tory Burch, Trina Turk, Ugg and Velvet ( to name a few) and everyday you can expect to find between 50 – 100 new items.
Basically a designer boutique without paying designer prices!
I went to visit Plum last week simply to learn more about this store. I left with a necklace, boots and a dress – all designer, all in absolute mint condition and paid around $100 for the whole lot. (I told you ladies you will thank me).
There is more…
They also have a Plum Perks member reward system where you get discounts, special offers & earn points. To read more about their reward system go to –> http://www.plumgood.com/plum-perks-loyalty-program.html
Consignment isn’t the only thing they sell. They also sell new merchandise from companies that support local charities and locally owned companies that help their community. Companies such as: Lollia, Niyol Jewelry, Be Hippy, Prickly Hearts, GLOW for a cause & Canned Goods.
Also, do you remember I mentioned that they donate items that don’t fit their store? Well they do that in such a unique and great way. The donated items go to The Gathering Place, a daytime drop-in center for women, their children, and transgender individuals experiencing poverty or homelessness. The Gathering Place then puts all these donated items on racks in a boutique they created where homeless women can go shop with dignity. The owner and operator of Plum Consignment is Crystal Stephen. Stephen was inspired to open Plum shortly after her mother passed away from cancer. Her mother always motivated her to start her own business. Stephen wanted to create an uncommon consignment experience while supporting sustainable clothing practices for the environment and the community. Her goal was to raise the “resale bar.” Plum is the fruit of that labor.
In keeping with the concept’s sustainable focus, most of the store’s interior décor items are re-purposed fixtures & furniture for displays, giving Plum an up-cycled urban eclectic feel while serving up a fresh consignment experience.
On September 24th 2015, between the hours of 4pm – 7pm, Plum will commemorate it’s three year anniversary with in-store specials, refreshments and giveaways. They are also in the midst of an End of Summer Clearance – anything stamped with the letter “P” is 50% off.
