Saturday, September 19th 2015, is International Talk Like a Pirate Day and to celebrate this day, the City of Northglenn is throwing a fun and family-friendly Pirate Festival!
The 2015 Pirate Fest is a FREE event between the hours of 10am – 7pm and will include food and booth vendors plus all of the yummy pirate drinks (rum, mead, and beer) a pirate ship, crafts and vendors, activities including bounce houses, a historical reenactment section, sword fighting and archery demonstrations and more.
They are also holding a Cardboard Regatta Competition . A cardboard regatta is a boat race in hand constructed vessels made entirely out of cardboard. It is a competition with two parts: the first is to design and build a boat made out of cardboard and the second is to make sure it not only floats but can also compete against other handmade boats for the fastest time on the lake. Builders can only used corrugated cardboard, duct tape, masking tape simple one part adhesives and paint and a LOT of imagination. Other activities throughout the day: Renaissance Adventures and The Guild Academy, living history and archery demonstrations by the Society of Creative Anachronism, live birds of prey and more!
*Costumes are encouraged and there will be a costume contest for the adults who dress up as well as a second division for the kids who wear pirate garb.
