Blossoms of Light

Downtown Denver Grand Illumination

As part of Downtown Denver’s Winter in the City program, at 6pm on Nov 27th, 2015 Downtown Denver’s Grand Illumination event will light up Downtown, from Denver Union Station to the City and County Building. Following a countdown shortly after 6:30pm , Denver Union Station will be ablaze with brightly colored floodlights illuminating the historic structure in the heart of Lower Downtown and its lighted tree in front. Light Exhibition runs through the end of December.
LoDo Aglow

Olde Golden Christmas

Olde Golden Christmas includes a very special candlelight walk each year featuring thousands of visitors caroling down Washington Avenue, candles in hand, to the Golden Visitors Center where local merchants and civic groups greet the revelers with hot cider, eggnog, cookies, activities, exhibits and more to instill warmth and good old fashioned Golden Christmas spirit. The most exciting moment is when Santa flips a switch and thousands of lights on Washington Avenue, at the Visitors Center and along the Clear Creek illuminate the night to the crowd’s cheers, oohs and ahs.
For the first time ever, Clear Creek History Park will be set aglow for the holidays with thousands of sparkling lights that will illuminate the park and historic buildings – inside and out- for a festive gathering and event space.
The festivities continue each Saturday morning until Christmas with the Olde Golden Christmas on Parade, which features holiday music and dancers, Newfoundland dogs, elves on motorcycles, Santa and more. Meanwhile, shopkeepers offer treats, music, cider, hot chocolate, visits with Santa and holiday sales with great bargains. Visitors also enjoy hay rides through historic downtown and children can ride in the Newfoundland dog carts, and then enjoy live theater and choirs in the evenings.
Trail of Lights
When: November 27th 2015 through January 2nd 2016
Where: Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms, 8500 W. Deer Creek Canyon Rd, Littleton 80128

Spread throughout Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms, Trail of Lights offers visitors a choice of paths; a shorter route takes visitors directly to the children’s play area, while an extended path allows visitors to explore the Green Farm Barn and silo before continuing onto the children’s area and 1880s homestead.
Expect: Synchronized music in children’s play area, three-sided light tunnel, warming hut and the fire pit, free hayrides highlighting Chatfield’s natural beauty (available every Friday and Saturday from 5:30pm – 9pm).
Hot drinks will available for purchase and seasonal entertainment will be provided.

Zoo Lights 2015

Zoo Lights will nearly double in size this year, spanning 70 acres of Denver Zoo’s campus, with nightly entertainment, animal encounters, Santa meet-and-greets and, of course, illuminated animal sculptures that swing through trees, jump across lawns hide in bushes and appear in places where they’re least expected. A great opportunity for folks of all ages to enjoy the holidays or kick off the New Year with family, friends and colleagues.
Humans aren’t the only species that get to decorate their lawns this holiday season. Take a stroll through Denver Zoo’s Zoo Lights and you’ll “ohhh” and “ahhh” over their 38 brilliantly-illuminated acres of lights and more than 150 animated animal sculptures. Grab your hot chocolate and ear-muffs, this year is going to be better than ever!

Vail Holidaze takes Vail’s already iconic setting and adds family activities, such as skating, and many outdoor events. Held from December 18th through December 20th as well as December 31st, Vail Holidaze events bring an even more festive vibe to the Yuletide.
Event Highlights: Dec. 18th: 4pm – 6pm “Libations and Lanterns” with the Alpine Arts Center. Dec. 19th: 3pm – 5pm Holiday cookie decorating will be taking place around town. 5pm – 7:30pm Local skaters will be at Arrabelle Square and Solaris Ice Skating rink to skate with your child.
