Psst… Dramatic Focal Point – Hidden Vantage Marriage Proposal

Dramatic Focal Point: Hidden Vantage Marriage Proposal | The Denver Ear

Marriage proposals these days are becoming more elaborate and involved than they were 20 years ago. I have friends my age who wish that they had photographs from the moment when they officially became engaged. Back then, no one really gave much thought to hiring a photographer to capture this life event.

Let me preface this article by saying if more woman were proposing marriage than my services would be at the forefront of most plans. Most men have very simple thoughts in their mind; I need to get the perfect ring and I need to say something romantic. In my experience the ring IS important but the words don’t necessarily need to be romantic, the words just need to be genuine.

Many of my clients first make contact with me and they only have a rough idea of how they imagine a marriage proposal taking place. I start off with this simple question, “Do you want your marriage proposal to be romantic or adventurous”? Here in Colorado we have such majestic backdrops for just about any type of marriage proposal. I have helped clients set their proposal event above 12,000’ via snowmobiles, standing atop a mountain, kneeling in the snow, with mountains below. Others have requested more romantic settings, like a one horse open sleigh ride through the snowy forest trails. Some of my clients have been the mother of the “soon to be engaged girlfriend” asking that I help their “soon to be son-in-law” create a very special marriage proposal for their daughter. Men need help, not because they aren’t imaginative but more so because they aren’t fully aware of all the options. Each marriage proposal is unique and I help create an event that is personal and meaningful to each couple.

Once the plan is set, I make sure that I have the best spot to hide and secretly photograph the proposal. After she says yes, I appear from hiding and then spend about 30 minutes in an impromptu engagement session. All of the images are processed that same day and placed into an online gallery for the couple to view.

If you want your marriage proposal photographed, the best thing you can do is tell your significant other, “Hey, when you do propose, I want you to have it photographed” (or at least tell someone who will drop the hint to him!)
