Día de los Muertos 2016 takes place from Tuesday, November 1st through Wednesday, November 2nd, 2016 and in its honor we are listing all the Día de los Muertos events, both for adults and for kids, that you can enjoy this holiday.
Día de los Muertos, also known as Day of the Dead, honors the dead with festivals and lively celebrations. Assured that the dead would be insulted by mourning or sadness, Día de los Muertos celebrates the lives of the deceased with food, drink, parties, and activities the dead enjoyed in life.

Celebrate Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) at Denver Botanic Gardens‘ Off the Clock: Calaveras y Ofrendas, and experience one of Mexico’s most venerated customs. Originating over 3,000 years ago, Day of the Dead joyfully honors those that have passed and celebrates their memories with calaveras (decorative skulls) and ofrendas (colorful and elaborate offerings).
Experience the tradition first-hand with a night of activities, music and performances. Inspired by Día de los Muertos, the Mexican celebration of the departed, The Catamounts and Firehouse Art Center present FEED: Los Muertos, in which they will celebrate stories of and rituals honoring their own departed, and the departed of the audience.
FEED: Los Muertos will feature a seated, three-course meal of small plates, drinks, and performance. Live music weaves the whole night together.
The evening is also inspired by and will be presented in the midst of the Firehouse’s “Local Folk” exhibition, which celebrates 30 artists who have lived or live in Longmont.
