This bubble of a city is only 45 minutes out from Denver, and is the perfect place to spend a day off whether you want to go out to the great outdoors or visit the quaint shops. No matter what you choose, here are a few options to get you started and some tips on how to fit in.
First you must prepare for your trip: Get your sandals ready. Teva Shoes or Birkenstocks are a must. If you don’t have those you can throw it a few years back and put on some toe shoes and you are set.
Now for the rest of your outfit: Dress athletic because everyone is either post or pre workout and you never know when there will be an impromptu yoga festival and the need to hula hoop. If you are planning to do some grocery shopping, bring your own bags! Not only is this good for the earth when you don’t use a plastic bag, but you can
also save some money. You will soon notice Boulder’s commitment to keeping the environment clean and healthy.
Once you are dressed in full fledged Boulderite apparel, grab your Kale chips and boxed water to check out the many things you can do while in town.
This beautiful spot is the perfect place for gatherings whether it be a nice picnic or an easy to moderate hike. Visit the restaurant or bring your kids to the park, whatever you choose to do here will be guaranteed with a beautiful view and a quiet environment.
A few minutes drive from Chautauqua is the street with never ending excitement and true Boulder behavior. Ranging from local stores to those that are widely known, Pearl Street has everything to offer. With many restaurants of different types, this is the place to go for date night or a family dinner with the kids. You may even be lucky enough to visit while there is one of many festivals occurring throughout the year.
Shops on Pearl
A great coffee shop to visit is Spruce Confections, this place is quaint and inviting with friendly staff and delicious pastries. A few steps over is Two Hands Paperie, a paper store unique and filled with color. Walking down the street, you can visit the Boulder Bookstore, or Bayleaf, a shop that feels as if you are in the different countries of Europe.
And for the kids (and truly adults too) – Make sure you visit Into the Wind, and play with the hundreds of toys they have to offer. To make your stay even more relaxed, you can even visit the beautiful St. Julien Hotel to spend time getting pampered in the Spa or at Jills for a nice dinner.
This is the place to go for a food experience unlike any other. The hot spot for college students, The Hill offers a range of food from Burgers to Pizza, and a delicious Sandwich. Whether you choose to hit Five Guys, Fat Shack , Cosmos or Cheba Hut, you will not be disappointed or hungry.
Even President Obama knew The Hill was the place to go, and you can find his signature on the wall at The Sink, known for Boulder’s Best Burgers.
So whether you choose to visit the stores, or the great outdoors, Boulder is the perfect town to get away to for a day well spent. With wonderful weather and the world’s nicest people you might never want to leave.
