The 4th Annual Japanese Kite Festival 2017 will take place on Saturday, September 30th, and Sunday, Oct 1st, 2017 at Central Park in Stapleton.
The festival, Presented by Japan America Society of Colorado, is a two-day event that will feature two Japanese kite-making workshops and a Japanese Kite Flying Festival with Colorado Kite Master Scott Skinner and Edo Kite Master Mikio Toki.
“We are extremely excited to host one of the world’s most famous Edo Kite Masters here in Colorado. This should be a tremendous opportunity for people of all ages to experience the excitement and tradition of Japanese kites,” said Claudine Locascio, Executive Director of the Japan America Society of Colorado.
Learn about the history and culture of Japanese kites, and make your own kite as well. Picnics are welcome, and there will also be a food truck on-site.
The Japanese kite-making workshops will take place on Saturday, September 30th, from 9:30am to 12pm and from 1pm to 3:30pm at the Central Park Recreation Center located at 9651 M.L.K. Jr Blvd, Denver, CO 80238.
The Japanese Kite Flying Festival will take place from 10am to 3pm on Sunday, October 2nd, 2016 near the Denver Pavilion at Central Park located at 8601 M.L.K. Jr Blvd, Denver, CO 80238.
Workshop participation is $5 per person and requires a reservation. You can register for the workshops online.
The kite flying festival on Sunday is free to all ages.
