Colorado Medieval Festival

The Colorado Medieval Festival is joining forces with the Rocky Mountain Scottish Athletes Association (RMSA) to bring Loveland and all of Northern Colorado one of the season’s earliest Highland Game Competitions of 2016. Competition will consist of the following events: Open Stone, Braemar Stone, Heavy & Light Hammer, Heavy & Light Weight for Distance, Caber & Weight for Height, and Sheaf. The Colorado Medieval Festival takes place just west of Loveland in The Savage Woods with the landmark of the Devil’s Backbone as a breathtaking backdrop. June 3rd the festival will open with Loveland’s very own Wendy Woo will be playing two-45 minute sets during the day. The games will be June 4th and 5th. Loveland’s Harrington Arts Alliance will display their many talented actors as the street performers throughout the entire weekend. The festival will have over 70 vendors for shopping and services as well as live entertainment from fairies to live steel to dancing. This is a family friendly event. Kids are welcome and feel free to bring a camera.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame: The Ballet

Danse Etoile Ballet presents The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Experience the masterpiece by Victor Hugo through dance and music. Never seen as a ballet, the choreography embodies the mysterious world of love, betrayal and being an outcast in the 13th century Paris. Notre Dame de Paris always in the background is a character in itself, a majestic work of art. Colorado based composers have teamed up with Danse Etoile to create stunning contemporary pieces of music to accompany the performance. The performance will include true French pastries and original gifts for intermission, and you can meet the cast, director and one of the composers.
Young Yogis in the Park

Young Yogis in the Park is a kid-inspired outdoor summer yoga class in Highlands Ranch. Breathe, laugh, stretch, and bend at this beginner-friendly outdoor yoga class. Time-permitting, they will enjoy a nature craft at the end to practice their focus. No registration needed, just drop in!

Ever wonder what you would look like as a cat? Or your cat as a caricature? Now you can find out! The Denver Cat Company, a cat-themed cafe that serves coffee, pastry & bagels, are celebrating June First Friday with Calisse Basada, an artist, caricaturist, and animal lover who does hilarious kitty caricatures. She will draw your portrait as a cat or she will do a caricature or ink wash sketch of your pet if you bring a picture of your kitty.

Denver Chalk Art Festival

The Denver Chalk Art Festival features more than 200 professional, amateur and student artists that will delight and amaze with their incredible talents, in what has become one of the city’s most treasured events. Over the course of two days, the artists will take to the street armed with vivid pastel chalks and spend hours on their hands and knees recreating major masterpieces or sharing original works of art. Spectators will watch as the intricate chalk paintings come to life and spread out to adorn four downtown blocks in and around Larimer Square. Visitors will enjoy live music, food and beverages while also having the rare opportunity to interact with the artists as they work.

The Arvada Festivals Commission brought to you by City of Arvada is hosting the Arvada Trails Day Festival. The Arvada Trails Day Festival will be combining forces with the Sustain Arvada Festival (previously held in May) and will incorporate all the activities traditionally associated with both festivals. The festival will take place at three different locations: Majestic View Nature Center, Ralston Central Park & Two Ponds National Wildlife Refuge.
Majestic View Nature Center: Guided nature walks, recreational and family bike rides, kids activities and environmental education displays, nature, outdoor activity and urban farming demonstration booths, free refreshment booths and Denver Zoo, Hawkquest & Downtown Aquarium live presentations.
Ralston Center Park: Arvada Park to Park Half Marathon, 10K/5K & Family Fun Run, sustainable fine arts & craft fair, multimodal transportation fun, food trucks with sustainable and healthy options, activity zones with free Zumba, yoga, and dance classes and many environmental exhibits.
Two Ponds National Wildlife Refuge: Guided nature walks, live animal exhibits by Butterfly Pavilion & Birds of Prey Foundation, environmental education displays and kids activities, face-painting, Wild Birds Unlimited’s wildlife contraband display, self-guided nature walks on the Refuge trail system and free refreshments.

Union Station Farmers Market Grand Opening

Union Station Farmers Market will host its grand opening on June 4th at Denver’s Union Station. Join them for the ribbon cutting at 9am on the north side of the plaza (outdoors, in front of Snooze and Mercantile), marking the beginning of its inaugural year. At the grand opening, the farmers market will offer vegetable tastings, Market Bucks giveaways and a chef demo with beast + bottle. The chef demo program will highlight a different local chef and seasonal produce from 10 to 11am. Union Station Farmers Market will feature 40 local vendors, including Colorado farms and locally-produced food and drink, weekly through October 22nd. The market is operated by the nonprofit organization Boulder County Farmers Markets, which also runs the Boulder and Longmont farmers markets.

This event will also include bounce houses and a K9 demonstration by the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office. *Alcohol may not be brought to any event in the park, though it will be sold at this event.
