The 27th Annual Friendship Powwow and American Indian Cultural Celebration at the Denver Art Museum will feature American Indian dancers, drum groups, working artists, hands-on activities, artist booths, and more. One of the Denver Art Museum’s longest-running events, Friendship Powwow is a celebration of the vitality of American Indian cultures.

Throughout the day, visitors can watch colorful dance competitions and enjoy fry bread. Stop by the Native Arts Artist-in-Residence Studio, focused this summer on the artistry and creation of powwow regalia. Also, don’t miss the American Indian art collection on levels two and three of the North Building.

The Denver Botanic Gardens and Jefferson Park Farm and Flea Market are partnering together to present the 4th Annual Urban Homestead Tour! The tour will showcase many examples of urban gardening – small to large scale – chicken and bee keeping, composting, etc. Most importantly, tour-goers will see how the hosting families have integrated these activities into their daily lives with the purpose of leading a more sustainable lifestyle.

There are 10 tour stops spread throughout Denver and Arvada. You will choose where to start and how many stops to visit. Then, finish the tour at the Jefferson Park Farm & Flea Market for a panel discussion with the homeowners as well as great offers from local businesses.
