Shawn Mendes is a Canadian singer and songwriter that first rose to fame by attracting a social media following in 2013, when he began posting song covers on the popular video sharing application Vine. In 2014, he caught the attention of artist manager Andrew Gertler and Island Records A&R Ziggy Chareton, which led to him signing a deal with them. Mendes went on to release his debut studio album Handwritten, whose single “Stitches” reached the top 10 in the US and Canada, and number one in the UK.
Mendes was also listed among Time Magazine‘s 25 Most Influential Teens both in 2014 and 2015. He also made his first appearance on the Forbes list with their annual “30 Under 30”, for 2016.
