Star Wars™ and the Power of Costume is now on display at the Denver Art Museum from November 13th, 2016 through April 2nd, 2017.
The Star Wars™ and the Power of Costume Exhibit at Denver Art Museum will take you on a unique journey into the Star Wars™ universe as characters are brought to life through a dramatic presentation of more than 70 original costumes.
The exhibit will closely examine the captivating process of costume design for iconic outfits featured in all seven films of the Star Wars series, from Queen Amidala’s lavish gowns to Darth Vader’s imposing black armor.
What to Expect
At the exhibit you will have the opportunity to watch the designers and actors through several exhibition videos, learn cultural and historic context as interpreted by Smithsonian scholars, experience the processes of concept artists and costume designers with interactive encounters, and explore the artistry of the world’s most recognized cinematic costumes, including Queen Amidala, Chewbacca, X-Wing Pilots, and Droids, including C-3PO and R2-D2.
Attendees are allowed to wear their favorite Star Wars™ costumes if they wish, yet please keep in mind that lightsabers, masks, and full face painting is not allowed (partial face painting is acceptable).

The Costume Studio & Weekend Demonstrations
Get inspired by the script and the story to sketch your own costume design or design a character and appropriate garb for their environment with hands-on activities. Demonstrations include Fortuitous Design: Costume in Watercolors, Costumevolution: Masks in Motion, Set, Prop, and Make-up Design, Fantastical Costume Design, and more. The Costume Studio & Weekend Demonstrations will take place every weekend through April 2nd, 2017 from 12pm to 3pm. This event is included with admission and is for all-ages.

Menu items include “How Root” vegetable salad, with chewy cheese curds, gold citrus three-pea pods, star anise 1/4 portion croutons, and orange basil infusion; Seared seabass, with romanesco, asparagus spears, forest mushrooms and fire roasted romesco; and “The Dark Side” dark chocolate terrine, with Imperial Stout ice cream, cassis cocoa streusel, and almond milk jam.

The Nickel will offer a “Mos Eisley Cantina Brunch” every Saturday throughout the duration of the exhibition. The playful Star Wars™ inspired menu includes Chicken & Luke Skywaffle; Biscuits & Rey-vy; Jar Jar Banh-Mi Sandwich; Greedo Granola; and Darth Bacon, among many others.
