Thirsty Lion Gastropub & Grill, the Portland-based restaurant concept that opened its first Colorado restaurant in the Union Station neighborhood in 2014, opened its second location in Denver in Cherry Creek North neighborhood on Tuesday, June 14th, 2016.
The restaurant’s prime location at the corner of 2nd Avenue and Columbine, serves its new neighborhood as the place to catch up with friends over happy hour, brunch with the family on the weekend, or catch the game at the bar. Unique to the Cherry Creek location is an enclosed patio as well as a drink rail on Columbine with 25 stools on the sidewalk and access to a square fireplace seating area. On the other side of the restaurant, walls and windows open up, giving the space an open-air feeling.
“Given the rapid development of housing and retail space in Cherry Creek North, we really couldn’t be joining the community at a better time,” said Thirsty Lion CEO John Plew. “This is an active neighborhood with a thriving social scene, and Thirsty Lion offers an upbeat atmosphere to accommodate any dining occasion.”
Menu items include signature sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, salads and specialty dishes like salmon & asparagus risotto, baja fish tacos, traditional scotch eggs, charcuterie boards and many more. A seasonal fresh sheet will focus on the changing season’s offerings, featuring unique ingredients including fresh seafood, quality meats and local vegetables and fruits.
The gastropub features a large selection of 40 craft beers on tap, many of which are local to the city, as well as unique craft cocktails that utilize combinations of fresh fruit purees, juices and premium liquors. Of the 25 wines available by the class, 20 wines will be available on tap, guaranteeing a pour that is always fresh.
Thirsty Lion Cherry Creek covers 7,000 square feet, 1,000 square feet being outdoor patio space. The Gastropub serves lunch and dinner seven days a week with a brunch menu available on Saturday and Sunday, a concept that the downtown location launched in 2015. Approximately 95 employees staff the new location, which boasts an open-air kitchen, a hearth-baked pizza oven, a 20-seat bar, and two outdoor seating areas, all trademarks of the Thirsty Lion brand. Thirsty Lion operates Monday through Thursday from 11am to 12am, Friday from 11am to 1am, Saturday from 9am to 1am, and Sunday from 9am to 11pm.
