A lot of great restaurants are offering special menus for Valentine’s Day.
Root Down is an American restaurant that also specializes in dishes for vegans and vegetarians. I have been to this restaurant in the past year at least three times and I love it more and more every time I go.
First of all the cocktail menu is an absolute must so if you are adventurous and want to leave the wine for dinner then I recommend trying the “Casino Royal” & “Pepper Blossom” cocktails.
For Valentine’s Day they have a special menu which is $75 per person with an optional $35 for wine pairing. For that price you get each an Amuse, First Course, Second Course, Main Course & Dessert. You can review the full menu here and make reservations here.

Zengo is a Latin-American restaurant that also prides itself with flavors that have an Asian fusion to them. The restaurant is vibrant, modern and it’s chef Richard Sandoval is multiple accolade winner in the industry.
For Valentine’s Day they have a special menu which is $69 per person. For that price you each get a Featured Cocktail, First Course, Second Course, Main Course & Dessert. You can view the full menu here and make reservations here.

Barolo Grill is an award winning Italian restaurant that serves authentic Northern Italian food that originates from the provinces Piedmont & Tuscany. It also prides itself with it’s own wine cellar that features small family wineries and has one of the largest selections of Barolo wines outside of Italy.
I had dinner at Barolo Grill a few months ago and the food was fresh and delicious!
For Valentine’s Day they have a special menu which is $88 per person for which you get a 5 course prix fixe meal. Reservations for Valentine’s Day should be made over the phone at: (303)393-1040.
The restaurant is located in the Cherry Creek North neighborhood at 3030 E. 6th Ave. Denver, CO 80206 and also offers complimentary valet services.
Blue Sushi Saki Grill is a Japanese restaurant that specializes in sushi. The restaurant categorizes its sushi as having an “American Attitude”.
I personally am not a big sushi eater (well I don’t eat fish so sushi isn’t my first choice for dinner) but I have heard from friends that if you like Japanese food and sushi then you should definitely try this restaurant.
For Valentine’s Day they offer a special menu without a fixed price but they also have their regular menu available to order. The Valentine’s Day menu can be viewed here and reservations should be made over the phone at: (303)640-3655.

Shanahan’s Steakhouse is an award-winning Denver steakhouse (2014 Trip Advisor’s award for excellence, Open Table’s 2014 Diner’s Choice Award and more) that offers USDA prime aged steaks and fresh seafood flown in daily and certified by The Marine Stewardship Council.
Personally, I am a big steak lover and if you love steaks as much as I do then I am sure this restaurant will be a fabulous choice for Valentine’s Day.

Forget the lovey-dovey romantic Valentine’s Day you have experienced up until now. If you feel like having a different and unique Valentine’s Day this year then look no further than Valentine X.
Valentine X is a thrilling experience by 13th Floor Haunted House, the production company that makes your Halloweens that much more frightening! I absolutely love this production company and I go to their haunted houses nearly every year and I have also tried their “Zombie” event during the summer. If you like being scared then this is the Valentine’s Day event for you.
This time around the story line is that “Ten years have passed since the last documented appearance of the Bear Butcher. His murderous actions caused a spree of copycats performing their own acts of violence on Valentine’s Day. Come face to face with the Bear Butcher and his chainsaw in candlelit horror, as he unites his copycats in a murderous act of purity to those with adulterous sins. This February, Bear Butcher’s message is deadlier than ever before.”
The event is taking place on two nights : Friday February 13th 2015 (Friday the 13th!) and Saturday, February 14th 2015 between 7:30pm-10:30pm. Ticket prices are $25 for general admission or $35 for the fast pass access and can be purchased here.

Calling all GLEE fans! Spend Valentine’s Day with “Sue Sylvester” from Glee.
The Emmy & Golden Globe winner, Jane Lynch, will performing on Valentine’s Day at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House at 8:00pm. This show is a mix of Broadway & Comedy. So if you feel like laughing on Valentine’s Day then this show could be what you are looking for.

Love Sux is a Valentine’s Day party that is dedicated to all the singles out there that want to still go out and have a good time without worrying about a significant other. They even offer singles that bring a destroyed photo of their exes a chance to win goodies and prizes!
This event is taking place at Howl At The Moon in various locations, and you can even win a personal party for you and your friends by submitting an online application.

DENVER 420 STONEY SATURDAY CONNOISSEUR TOUR
If your flower of choice on Valentine’s Day isn’t a rose yet one that is much ‘greener’ then this tour might be something you should check out.
The Denver 420 Stoney Saturday Connoisseur Tour (Sheesh couldn’t they come up with an event name a little shorter?) is taking place on Valentine’s Day as well.
The event is a guided tour from the hours of 1:00pm-5:00pm that visits some of Colorado’s best retail marijuana stores, grow viewing and glass & pipe stores, The tour is organized by Colorado High Life and costs $90 per person.

Don’t worry, it’s not as scary as the title suggests (for that you can try Valentine X!)
Death by Chocolate is actually an interactive theater experience (i.e a murder mystery dinner) by Adam Mystery Playhouse. Basically you find clues, meet suspicious characters, eat delicious food and solve a murder. The show also includes: a scavenger hunt, Palm reading for $5 per person, a “casket bar”, free parking and drink specials.
The story of this specific murder mystery is: ‘While on a leisure tour of ‘Romantic Bavaria’ one of your scheduled stops is at the home of Ruth A. Joy, world famous candy maker and chocolate connoisseur. While there, you witness an auspicious moment in history as three confectioners bring their samples to Ms. Joy for her opinion on their chocolate recipes. Soon, someone ends up dead and you have to solve the crime. Who would do such a ‘bitter’ deed at such a ‘sweet’ moment?’

My Funky Valentine is a fundraiser event that supports Denver Dream Lab. Denver Dream Lab is a charity that gives children access to knowledge, tools and instruction from mentors with a desire to share their passion. The charity focuses on children whose opportunities are limited due their circumstances.
This event includes unlimited small plate variety tastings from some of Denver’s finest chefs, unlimited adult beverage samples from Colorado’s finest craft wine, spirit, and beer companies, a concert by Eddie Roberts from West Coast Sounds (funk music hence the title of the event), and a live dating game for singles in the crowd that hope to find love live in front of the audience.
Ticket prices range from $20-$65 (depending on what parts of the event you choose to attend) and can be purchased here.
The event is from 6:00pm-12:00am and is located at the Exdo Event Center.
If you are single and adventurous, if you always wanted to feel part of a sexy love movie (ahem ahem Fifty Shades of Grey) then this event could be a super special Valentine’s Day for you.
