Weekly Top Denver Secrets August 7th – 13th, 2016
New Restaurant, Bar & Brewery Openings
This week I got word of a few new Denver restaurants, bars, and breweries opening in Denver and nearby cities.
Departure Restaurant + Lounge
Departure Restaurant + Lounge opened in the Cherry Creek North neighborhood on Tuesday, August 9th, 2016! Departure Restaurant & Lounge, introduced by the Denver-based independent restaurant group – Sage Restaurant Group, is a modern Asian cuisine eatery.
The restaurant’s ambitious menu captivates diners with authentic interpretations of Asia’s coastal cuisines, and its décor draws inspiration from luxury air travel, allowing guests to escape on a global adventure without ever leaving Cherry Creek.
Later this month you can also expect the opening of Departure Elevated, a seasonal rooftop lounge offering unrivaled views of Cherry Creek and the Rocky Mountains.
Departure’s cuisine team is helmed by Chef Gregory Gourdet, Culinary Director of Departure Restaurants (you might recognize him as a finalist on Bravo’s Top-Chef in 2015), alongside Executive Chef Khamla Vongsakoun. The pair, as well as Peter Karpinski, Co-Founder of Sage Restaurant Group, and other SRG leaders, toured extensively across Asia earlier this year to research the cuisine, culinary techniques, and approach to service in countries including Vietnam, Korea, Thailand, and Japan.
Departure Restaurant + Lounge is located at 249 Columbine St, Denver, CO 80206.
Psst… A local Denver celebrity and his fiancé were amongst the guests to experience Departure’s grand opening. Read all the info here!
Thrive360 Eatery

The menu includes balanced bowls, salads, and wraps made with seasonal greens, protein-rich grains, and flavorful ingredients, as well as a “make your plate” option that encourages guests to pair a preferred protein and housemade sauce with two signature sides. The innovative beverage menu features Kombucha on draft, with the option for guests to create Kombucha “mocktails” with seasonally-flavored ice cubes like pineapple, and a menu of the signature blended drinks from Protein Bar, Thrive360 Eatery’s sister restaurant.

Bread Bar
Bread Bar, a new cocktail bar and event venue at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, has reopened to the public in its new incarnation.
Bread Bar will be a salt of the earth stop for cocktails and beers for locals, ski commuters, and ghost town-geeks alike. Housed in the former DRAM Apothecary tasting room space in Silver Plume, Bread Bar will be a salt of the earth stop for cocktails and beers—for locals, ski commuters, and ghost town-geeks alike.
The menu, crafted in tandem with The Way Back team, will include simple crafted cocktails that reflect the Silver Plume locale—all named after historical residents of the area and figures of state folklore. The atmosphere, in a nod to the building’s 100-year life as a bakery, keeps its rustic charm intact alongside a full range of original antiques, grain bins, a hanging flour scale, a functional 1900s-era icebox that will be stocked with a rotating selection of bombers and beverages. The back deck has been rebuilt and expanded for outdoor enjoyment and live music in all seasons.
